Hi my name is JoAnn DeLeon. Jerry DeLeon, my brother has always been an amazing brother and person . He is a loving, caring, and compassionate individual who loves life and will help anyone in need. He has so many people in his life that have the best memories and regard for him. About two weeks ago he was complaining about back pain the doctors would give him steriods and pain medicine which did not help. After two weeks he finally went to a different hospital emergency room they ran tests on him and pre diagnosed him with cancer. Further testing would confirm he has Burkitts Lymphoma Cancer. Within a few days he went from stage 2 to stage 5. Meaning the Cancer has been detected in his marrow and brain. The doctors have started him on very aggressive Chemotherapy because his Cancer is a very rare and aggressive kind.
Thanks for sharing. I too have had Burkitts. In 2008, I was staged IVb, which is as severe as that oncology group would give. Full body involvement, including bone marrow. It was a touch 8 months in the hospital, my story is also on this page somewhere.
I had mine return in June 2014, caught it at stage 2 this time fortunately. I’m still in recovery from my stem cell transplant and doing rather well overall. My heart goes out to you, I also had type 5 burkitts . The cemo is tough tell your brother to use it as his ammunition against his war . There will be savage damage with in his body as there is casualties in any war but keep mentally strong. I am nearly 7 years since my battle but I won lots of hard work and lots of side effects but I am here to enjoy life. Lots of best wishes I am living proof you can beat it no matter how bad through sheer bloody mindedness. Good luck Elaine.x
